Sculptors from around the world beautify Puerto Vallarta

For the second consecutive occasion, the International Sculptors Forum was held, which will enrich the artistic legacy of Puerto Vallarta.

When we reflect on the importance of the cultural and artistic heritage of a place, we do not always imagine what is behind it. What's more, we can pass by a beautiful sculpture and we limit ourselves to knowing how to look at it and at most see the name of the artist, without even thinking about the number of people involved for a work to be placed on public roads. Undoubtedly, this has been possible due to the joint effort between the government, private initiative, universities and citizens.

Por segunda ocasión consecutiva se realizó el Foro Internacional de Escultores que enriquecerá el legado artístico de Puerto Vallarta. Cuando reflexionamos acerca de la importancia del patrimonio cultural y artístico de un lugar, no siempre nos imaginamos que hay detrás. Es más, podemos pasar a un costado de una hermosa escultura y nos limitamos a conocer mirarla y cuando mucho ver el nombre del artista, sin pensar siquiera la cantidad de personas que están involucradas para que una obra sea colocada en la vía pública. Sin duda esto ha sido posible al esfuerzo conjunto entre gobierno, iniciativa privada, universidades y ciudadanos. Una galería a cielo abierto Un evento de gran trascendencia para la ciudad fue la realización del Segundo Foro Internacional de Escultores 2018, del 12 al 24 de Noviembre, organizado por el Centro Universitario de la Costa de la Universidad de Guadalajara, con el apoyo de importantes patrocinadores. Destacados artistas de talla internacional dejaron una vez más obras de gran formato que vestirán nuestra ciudad. Escultores del mundo embellecen la ciudad Bajo la curaduria de los escultores María Elena Perales, de Puerto Rico y Kemal Tufan, de Turquía, participaron en la creación de las obras artistas de gran renombre internacional como Cynthia Sah, de Taiwán, como su obra ‘Return’; Piotr Twardowski, de Polonia, con ‘Just Listen’; los mexicanos Yvonne Domenge, con su trabajo ‘Dimensión 5’, Antonio Nava con ‘Mariposa Blanca’ y Oscar Zamarripa con ‘Dualidad’; Melquiades Sastre, de Puerto Rico, con ‘Sinuosidades’; el francés Nicolas Bertoux, con su obra ‘La Vela del Galeón’ y Ümit Turgay de Turquía, con ‘Phoenix’. Los escultores dejaron un pedazo de su corazón y talento, al dotar el espacio público de la ciudad con obras que dan identidad y sentido de pertenencia a los vallartenses en una galería a cielo abierto. An event of great importance for the city was the realization of the Second International Forum of Sculptors 2018, from November 12 to 24, organized by the Centro Universitario de la Costa of the University of Guadalajara, with the support of important sponsors. Outstanding artists of international stature once again left large-format works that will dress our city.

Under the curatorship of the sculptors María Elena Perales, from Puerto Rico and Kemal Tufan, from Turkey, internationally renowned artists such as Cynthia Sah, from Taiwan, such as her work 'Return', participated in the creation of the works; Piotr Twardowski, from Poland, with 'Just Listen'; the Mexicans Yvonne Domenge, with her work 'Dimension 5', Antonio Nava with 'Mariposa Blanca' and Oscar Zamarripa with 'Dualidad'; Melquiades Sastre, from Puerto Rico, with 'Sinuosidades'; the Frenchman Nicolas Bertoux, with his work 'La Vela del Galeón' and Ümit Turgay from Turkey, with 'Phoenix'.

The sculptors left a piece of their heart and talent, by providing the public space of the city with works that give identity and a sense of belonging to the people of Vallarta in an open-air gallery. The works were large format in stainless steel and concrete, the vast majority of them were worked right in the place of their installation, giving people who passed by the opportunity to observe the process.
