<\/p>\n

The beginning of the Malec\u00f3n was in 1936, the construction of this first breakwater was named Paseo a la Revoluci\u00f3n and later it changed to Paseo D\u00edaz Ordaz. Its first stage stretched from 31 de Octubre street to the Aquiles Serd\u00e1n amphitheater, better known as "The arches"<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over the years there have been significant changes. In 2002 its structure, sculptures and decorations were damaged by Hurricane Kenna. After a certain period it was restored and improved. In 2011 the vehicular passage was eliminated to extend the pedestrian passage, the sculptures were placed strategically at the end of each street that ends at the promenade.<\/p>\n

To learn more about the sculptures on the Malec\u00f3n and other details of history and charm, a free tour is offered every Tuesday. The meeting point is at the Los Milenios sculpture, next to the Rosita hotel at 9:30 AM.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A second extension of the Malec\u00f3n was added that connects to the Romantic Zone. Just as Paseo D\u00edaz Ordaz has grown and perfected its appeal, so have the restaurants and venues in the area. Some, although they have been on the seashore for several years, have undergone renovations in their decoration, improvement in their exquisite dishes and training in their work team to serve Vallartans and foreigners, something more than just a meal, a complete gastronomic experience.<\/p>\n

What to do on the Malecon?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Nightclubs have also evolved. Its music and lights set the scene for the night walks of the people who walk the kilometer and a half of the Malec\u00f3n. They hook you up with delicious complimentary drinks and great music for an incredible night out, making you feel like your fabulous 20's again.<\/p>\n

In addition, in the arches of the boardwalk, generally on Saturdays and Sundays, music events, clown shows, local comedians and all kinds of artistic expressions are held. Vendors selling tuba, tejuino, cotton candy, caramelized apples, and duritos with a lot of sauce, take you to your seat so you can enjoy the presentation.<\/p>\n

Children always ask their parents for a beautiful balloon or ball and the typical turtles with corcholata rims. There are also bubble vendors that add that touch of joy to the Malec\u00f3n. They all become children when they pass near a soap bomb and they play to burst as many as they can.<\/p>\n
