Thanks to the joint efforts of government authorities and various social sectors, Puerto Vallarta is consolidated as the second safest city in Mexico, according to data from the most recent National Urban Public Safety Survey (IN ITS) carried out by INEGI. This achievement also gives it first place at the state level, significantly surpassing the municipalities of the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

With an impressive perception of insecurity percentage of 19.4%, Puerto Vallarta residents over 18 years of age reflect notable confidence in the port's security. This figure places the city below only the Benito Juárez mayor's office, with a 15.2%, standing out even compared to Mérida, Yucatán, which traditionally occupies prominent places and which on this occasion is in fourth place. At the state level, Vallarta leads firmly, leaving nearby municipalities with significantly higher percentages and reaffirming its position as a safe destination to live and visit.
