Riviera Nayarit consolidates its presence in Spain

For more than a year the CVB of Riviera Nayarit has been paving the way in Spain with promotion, communication, PR and media strategies.

Riviera Nayarit has set itself the goal of opening new markets in Europe -which represents the third international issuing market to this destination after the United States and Canada-, based on Spain, a country where it has managed to create a solid base of notoriety and positioning .

The objective has been to place Riviera Nayarit as an emerging destination for Spanish travelers, highlighting its advantages and differences in areas such as nature, luxury, well-being and the rich local culture of the region, among others, through an effective promotion strategy executed by the Office of Visitors and Conventions of Riviera Nayarit (OVC) and its Communication and PR office in Spain.

World2Fly, from Madrid to Riviera Nayarit

The results of these actions are materialized in announcements such as the one recently issued by the Spanish wholesaler World2Fly —the airline of the Iberostar group—, which will fly in the summer of 2022 from Madrid to eight destinations in North America and the Caribbean, including Puerto Vallarta / Riviera Nayarit.

“The new World2Fly flight opens the panorama for the entire region, especially Riviera Nayarit, which since last year has maintained a brand presence in the Iberian Peninsula through publications in the media, webinars, tourism fairs and PR”, said Marc Murphy, director general of the OVC.

Likewise, Aeroméxico has announced new air frequencies from Spain to Mexico as of December of this year, when it will operate two new direct routes that will link Madrid with the cities of Guadalajara and Monterrey, in addition to the existing one to Mexico City. . These routes are expected to generate a good flow of Spanish passengers to the region.

Spanish investments

On the other hand, the Spanish tourism industry is no stranger to the potential of the "most desired luxury destination in Mexico" and maintains significant investments, among which, precisely, the hotel stands out. Iberostar Playa Mita inaugurated in December 2013, this being the first on the Mexican Pacific coast. The 452-room hotel is part of the company's Premium Gold category, which is characterized by offering five-star hotels with luxury services. Its opening denoted at the time an important impulse for the development of tourism in the Litibú area, collaborating in the revitalization of the region and the generation of 450 direct jobs.

RESULTS 2020-2021

Riviera Nayarit maintained a content strategy in 2020 that was based, broadly speaking, on focusing on the main tourist attractions of the destination that are not yet popular in the Spanish market: natural wonders, magical towns, luxury hotels, gastronomic offer , own local Huichol culture, etc., highlighting places like Compostela, Mexcaltitán, Isabel Island and Sayulita.

Derived from these actions, the following results were obtained: 269 Clips; 451' 828, 791 Impressions; 1'403, 176 euros AdValue and 4' 836, 534 euros of PR Value. The trend is positive, since only in the first half of 2021 451'540, 270 impressions have been achieved.

Likewise, there is a continuous presence in important Spanish media, including: El País, Condé Nast Traveler, El Mundo, La Vanguardia, Viajar, El Economista, ABC, Marie Claire, La Sexta, RNE, Viajes National Gographic and De Trips.

On the other hand, travel writers and journalists, bloggers and influencers such as Álvaro Rojas, Marina Comes, Diana Millos, Travel The Life and Javy Cubo, among others.

“The line of work that we have followed in Spain is giving results. Today we can show joy for the good numbers in the Riviera Nayarit, but it is the best time to redouble our efforts and continue to exceed goals,” concluded Marc Murphy.

Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Hotels and restaurants are following all the sanitary protocols established by the Federal Government Health Secretariat and are operating at their permitted capacity; access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist, use a mask and watch your distance.
