The saying goes “forewarned is worth two”, and although when you travel you don't think about illnesses or accidents, you always have to consider the possibility of needing a medical service.
Puerto Vallarta offers a wide range of medical and hospital services that are on par with any city in the country. For more than two decades, highly specialized medicine has arrived in Puerto Vallarta, establishing the bases of what is now known as medical tourism.
In the Bay of Banderas we have more than 300 specialists of all kinds who attend and operate in various hospitals, clinics and offices in the region. Most of them are certified by national and international accreditation bodies. There are also hundreds of general practitioners and family doctors located in the different neighborhoods.
However, if I come here on vacation or have just established my residence here, how can I find a doctor who properly attends to my health needs? Well, the answer might sound a bit off at first, since word of mouth is the best method, and maybe because of the short time I have in the bay I still don't know enough, so another method would be the magazines or media that advertise online medical services.
Next, we will give you a brief tour that will guide you regarding the medical and hospital services that are available in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.
There are public sector hospitals such as: the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the Regional Hospital of the Secretary of Health of Jalisco, and the ISSSTE in Puerto Vallarta, and in Bahía de Banderas, the Pondoroque Hospital in Mezcales and the Hospital de health in San Francisco Nayarit, in what corresponds to public services. If you are Mexican, you will surely have an idea of what we are talking about or you will be affiliated with one of them. Similarly, there are private sector hospitals that serve both Mexicans and foreigners.
Those who are entitled to the public service, can go to their affiliate hospital as they usually do with their proper card or affiliation number in the case of the IMSS or ISSSTE, but there is an option for people who are not affiliated with the above and that both Mexicans and foreigners can even acquire at highly accessible costs the medical service of the Regional Hospital see: https://ssj.jalisco.gob.mx/cuida-tu-salud/hospitales-a-tu-alcance/4366
There is another option for those who have medical expenses insurance or have the economic possibilities to pay for private medical attention in any of the following private hospitals that I underline in alphabetical order:
Amerimed, CMQ Centro, CMQ Premiere, CMQ Riviera Nayarit, Medasist, San Javier Marina and San Javier Riviera Nayarit. All these private hospitals have bilingual staff, and facilities with all the necessary equipment to care for and perform highly specialized procedures.
On the other hand, there are also lower-cost maternity and emergency clinics that offer specialized services such as: the Versalles Hospital and the ANKU Clinic specializing in urology, Clínica Las Palmas. In the Pitillal delegation there is the Belén Clinic and the San Antonio Sanatorium; as well as the Medic-Air Clinic in Mezcales, Nayarit
Specialist offices can also be found within the hospitals themselves, or concentrated in medical units on some of the main roads in our city such as Av. Los Tules, Av. Francisco Villa, Av. Fco. Medina Ascencio , Av. Fluvial and on Aldanaca, Lucerna and Francia streets in the Versalles neighborhood; on Ecuador and Colombia streets in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood; on Basilio Badillo, Jacarandas and Manuel M. Dieguez streets in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, and on Timón street in the Marina Vallarta subdivision.
Puerto Vallarta is a city that has everything you need to attend to any health emergency or specialty consultation.
As you can see, Puerto Vallarta is a city that has everything you need to attend to any health emergency or specialty consultation that you require if you are on vacation or live here.
Undoubtedly the medical hospital infrastructure that our region has, has been positioning our bay as a destination that has everything it requires to even become the best option in the field of Medical Tourism in Mexico, but that is what we are talking about. on another occasion.
