The “sport of kings” takes place in one of the most beautiful beach destinations. San Pancho is a typical little town that has one of the most impressive equestrian complexes on the continent: La Patrona Polo & Equestrian Club.

In the late fall of each year, the La Patrona polo and equestrian complex it becomes the house of various events. Polo cups, jumping events and cultural and gastronomic activities of great relevance for the region are announced, attended by exponents from all over the world. This year took place the 7th Riviera Nayari Polo Cupt, which was attended by Canada, a strong team from Careyes and one more from Guadalajara. They faced the locals in an extraordinary event that already opens the doors to the participation of new international tournaments.

In the end, Canada became the champion of the tournament, beating the strong Careyes team in the final with a score of 9 goals to 5. In the subsidiary final, the Guadalajara team was defeated by the locals from La Patrona by a score of 3 goals to 9.

For four days, La Patrona offered an impressive cultural, gastronomic and sports event dedicated to polo. Dozens of families attended to enjoy the best level of this sport that is already leaving its mark in the region. The beautiful and powerful horses run in tandem with the athletic players along a field 275 meters long by 146 meters wide. An amazing show.

Those who have already toured the facilities know of the owners' interest in dedicating this space to nature, protecting biodiversity and turning it into an attractive place for sporting, gastronomic, cultural and corporate events. It is important to mention that during the month of December the horse riding and jumping final of the first Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit Equestrian Circuit was also held, in which the new promises of the sport from the region and western Mexico participate. The event took place throughout the year with five matches at various clubs. La Patrona was the venue for the closure.

History and present of La Patrona

La Patrona has a long history. Its beginnings occurred in the heart of San Pancho at least 18 years ago. It was a small polo club -"La Patroncita"- that is still active, although with a different meaning. “La Patroncita” brought the new story to life. Just 7 years ago, the new oasis began to be created that gives life to the extraordinary complex of around four hectares, where for at least 5 months, dozens of equines enjoy a world dedicated to them. Spectacular stables, a regulation polo field, two spaces for horse riding with all the official requirements, a first-class restaurant dedicated to gastronomy, a clubhouse where all visitors are welcomed for activities, an amazing beach club and even a swimming pool. for the horses.

Undoubtedly an unusual place that will be worth visiting in the region's winter season.
