Certified beaches of Riviera Nayarit

The Nuevo Vallarta Norte beach and the Riviera Nayarit Marina continue to distinguish themselves for their environmental certifications.

Nuevo Vallarta Norte beach and Marina Riviera Nayarit obtained for the sixth and fourth consecutive year, respectively, the award Blue Flag granted by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) through Pronatura, to beaches and marinas that meet established criteria of quality, safety, education and environmental information.

After the audits carried out, the evaluation of the jury headed by the Secretariats of Tourism; Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat); Communications and Transportation (SCT); Marine (SEMAR) and Health (SSA); as well as the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) determined Nuevo Vallarta beach, as the marina were suitable to receive the award.

The first Blue Flag awarded to Nayarit was received by Playa Nuevo Vallarta Norte in 2013 and since then it has maintained its certification.

The distinctive Blue Flag or Blue Flag is a recognition granted by the foundation European Environmental Education (FEE for its acronym in English) to beaches and marinas that meet established criteria of quality, safety, education and environmental information.

There are 33 criteria for beaches and 25 for marinas, integrated into four categories: Environmental information and education; Water quality; Management and Environmental Management and Safety and Services. For this, it is necessary to have adequate personnel and equipment for visitor safety, signage and emergency plans, as well as access and inclusive spaces for people with disabilities.

In Mexico, since 2012, the operator of this organization is Pronatura, an environmental organization whose mission is to conserve ecosystems, flora and fauna; and promote the development of society in harmony with nature.

The Nuevo Vallarta beach is 5 kilometers long, and is located in front of the Fraccionamiento Náutico Turístico Nuevo Vallarta. Most of it has calm waves and a warm sea, which makes it ideal for families and for water sports. The criteria that earned him the award are: cleanliness, water quality, security, access and ecological sustainability.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle MarinaPlayas certificadas de Riviera Nayarit

Also known as the Navy Riviera Nayarit, is located in the town of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, it is considered the most modern in the Mexican Pacific, with capacity for 400 boats from 30 to 400 feet, and equipped with all the necessary services for a comfortable stay: bathrooms and showers, security, electricity and fuel load.

It was the first of its kind to receive Blue Flag certification in 2015. In this place you will find a yacht club, business center, sky bar, restaurant, seafood market, dock and one of the most equipped shipyards in the country that, among other things, it houses the largest crane in the Pacific.

Worldwide, 4,154 beaches and marinas have the distinctive Blue Flag in 49 countries. Spain with 679 and France with 492 are the nations that receive the most awards. Mexico only has 27 beaches and one Marina in this certification.
