Patron Saint Festivities of Bucerias

From January 15 to 24 there are religious, artistic and cultural activities. The 24th is the traditional pilgrimage by sea of fishermen and their families from the Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
In Bucerías, coastal town of the Riviera Nayarit, the patron saint festivities in honor of Our Lady Peace They are celebrated from January 15 to 24 and are a tourist attraction. For one week, a very complete program is developed that includes, in addition to religious services, sports, artistic and cultural activities.
It all begins with a novena of pilgrimages and masses in honor of the virgin, which begins on January 16 and ends on the 24th, the “big” day. On that day, families from Bucerías and nearby towns gather on the beach in front of the town's main square to receive the traditional maritime pilgrimage. The procession, which has been taking place for 57 years, is led by fishermen from the region. These carry a “Torch of Peace” from the town of La Huanacaxtle Cross.

An invitation is extended to citizens to participate in this traditional celebration:
- The festivities begin with a parade this Tuesday, which will depart from the Esplanade Corona at 5:00 pm. Continue along the avenue to the Decameron hotel. Then you will continue along Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue until you reach the main square.
- During the novena, nine sectors of the community participate with their respective pilgrimages and floats in honor of the virgin.
- Every day starting at 6 in the morning, groups of faithful make a pilgrimage to the parish to sing the traditional Mañanitas to the Virgin.
- In the afternoon, starting at 8:00, a cultural-musical festival takes place in the square.
