Little Miss Sunshine

The Hoovers are a very peculiar family: the grandfather uses cocaine and swears, the father fails miserably giving courses to achieve success, the mother cannot cope, the uncle is recovering from a failed suicide after being abandoned by his boyfriend, the teenage son reads Nietzsche and remains completely silent. And Olive, the youngest daughter, a girl with glasses and rather chubby, wants to be a beauty queen.

Nic (Annette Benning) and Jules (Julianne Moore) are a couple of women who live with their two teenage children: Joni (Mia Wasikowska) and Laser (Josh Hutcherson), both the result of artificial insemination. What obsesses the two boys is knowing their biological father, a certain Paul (Mark Ruffalo), who donated his semen to a clinic when he was young. Having just turned 18, Joni avails herself of the right to request information about her father and decides to call him.
