Invite to Project Errata: Correcting Art History

19 November 2021 @ 18:00 - 20:00

Proyecto Errata

Cultural Projects Office has the honor of presenting the following exhibition at Taller OPC: Errata Project, a Davis Birks project

It can be visited from Saturday, November 20, 2021, with limited capacity, free entry and respecting health protocols.

Based on the conscious omission of women artists in the first editions of the History of art by H.W. Janson, he Errata Project takes the form of an ever-growing library archive dedicated to women artists. The project is carried out through participating institutions that collaborate with the public and establish a related social platform. Creates an instrument of community participation to maintain sustained dialogues about women in art and society with the ultimate goal of raising awareness among people at the local level towards gender equality and positive changes.

This first selection is dedicated to the women of America and includes artists from Canada, the United States, Mexico and South America. This project is a concept by artist Davis  Birks and has been curated by Richard Di Via, Pilar Pérez and Paola Paz Yeee.

Reveals Davis Birks, “I had already started to formulate a project using The History of Art by Janson, but this time I wasn't thinking about how to incorporate it into a sculptural context, but rather just use it as the book it was. . . as a starting point to add all the women artists that Janson had left out. . . and I thought it would be a perfect project for the Taller OPC art library and the Puerto Vallarta community.”

The Cultural Projects Office (OPC) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Contemporary Art through exhibitions, round tables, public art initiatives and educational service programs. It was born with the desire to contribute to reflection on the contemporary sociocultural and artistic environment, with the vocation to share with the inhabitants and visitors of Puerto Vallarta. OPC works with different creators such as artists, architects, curators, academics and writers who contribute to the construction of our notion of a city and contribute to the cultural panorama linked to Puerto Vallarta but with global reach.
