The fifth edition of the Youth and Children's Beach Volleyball Cup, held in the beautiful destination of Rincón de Guayabitos, featured 106 teams from 16 states of the republic.

This place is already preparing to hold the regional stage of the National Olympics in March, which will feature teams from Colima, Michoacán, Nayarit and Jalisco.

V Youth and Children Beach Volleyball Cup

The V Guayabitos Cup took place last Saturday, January 19 and Sunday, January 20. The sporting event was organized by the Hotel Association of the Municipality of Compostela with the support of the Nayarit Tourism Promotion Trust. The inauguration was carried out by the Undersecretary of Tourism of the government of the state of Nayarit, Baltazar Urzúa Gutiérrez, representing the Governor of Nayarit, Antonio Echevarría García. The secretary of the Nayarit Volleyball Association, Moisés García Barrón, technical manager of the tournament, and the hosts and organizers of the V Guayabitos Cup were also present. These were the president, vice president and secretary of the hotel board of directors, Alejandro Rafael Chávez Bustos, Francisco Armando Vizcaíno and Francisco Javier Alonso Sánchez, respectively.

The actions began at 8 in the morning in 7 courts located in the residential area of Guayabitos at beach level, right in front of Isla del Coral. The participating categories were older youth born from 1999 to 2001, the younger youth born in 2002-2003 and the older child category born in 2004-2005. Also a guest category, which was the youngest child born in 2006-2007, all in the female and male branches.

A competition in a spectacular natural setting

The participating couples seek to qualify for the regional tournaments that will give way to the 2019 National Olympics. According to their sporting level, they fight for medals both in this tournament and in the national fair to be held next May, when the stage takes place. final of the National Olympiad. Thus, during the two days, couples from the state of Nuevo León stood out, such as Raymond Stephens and Miguel Sarabia, as well as Josué López and Oziel Aguirre, in addition to Juan Espinoza and Jorman Osuna from Sinaloa. Pairs from Zacatecas, Querétaro, Michoacán, Sonora, Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit advanced to the semifinals, some of them even undefeated. It should be noted that the headquarters of Guayabitos corner, considered the national capital of beach volleyball, for the first time he participated with 6 couples.

The exciting matches took place in a spectacular natural setting that surpasses most beaches in our country. These types of tournaments accommodate an enthusiastic participation of players, while their families supported them with cheers and applause during the matches that during the tie were played to only one set of 30 points.

  • Junior Senior 1999-2000-2001 Male: The winners were Raymond Stephens and Miguel Sarabia, who passed over Germán Osuna and Leonel García, the two couples from the state of Nuevo León.
  • Junior Youth Category 2002-2003 Female: The final was held between two couples from Sinaloa, with Paulina Rubio and Jimena Ramírez winning gold, leaving silver for Yerai Vidaurrazaga and Abril Flores.
  • Juvenile Minor 2002-2003 Manly: The winners were Alex Virgen and Alexis Galicia from Nayarit who achieved victory over Gibrán Pasos and Alonso Contreras from Guasave, Sinaloa.
  • Senior Children 2004-2005 Women: The gold went to Sinaloa with Yaneli Fierro and Osiris Mora and the silver for Michoacán with Zoé Vega and Paola Pitau.
  • Senior Children 2004-2005 Men: The gold was taken by André Rodríguez Aceves and Alexis Alvarado from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, standing out thanks to the preparation provided by the Mexican Olympian Juan Rodríguez. The silver went to Sinaloa with Brad Gutiérrez and Jesús Bohórquez.
  • Junior Children 2006-2007 Women: They stood out taking the gold for Sinaloa, Yesenia Fierro and Paulina Guevara from Guasave, Sinaloa, and the silver for Nuevo León with Hanna Favela and Melissa Velásquez.
  • Infantil Minor 2006-2007 Manly: The winners were those from Guasave, Sinaloa, Antonio Vargas and Leonel García. The silver went to Nayarit with Luis Medina and Eros directed by Professor Raúl Medina.
