This month is the International LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Queer) Pride Day, or as it has also been called, Gay Pride Day (Gay Pride in English), and it will be on June 28 when thousands of people belonging to this community take to the streets to demand that their rights be respected and also an end to discrimination and homophobia.

“During Pride Month, the Riviera Nayarit dresses in rainbows to show its support and appreciation for the LGBTQ+ community,” said Marc Murphy, general manager of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (OVC).

LGBTQ+ tourism -he added- constitutes a dynamic segment, constantly growing and with a high purchasing power, which more and more destinations want to attract, aware of its importance for the revitalization of the sector, since, according to international studies, this tourist will be one of the first to seek to resume their travel routines as soon as international mobility is allowed.

In this sense, Riviera Nayarit has established itself as a viable destination for this sector, by standing out in its efforts to include and offer tourism, such as infrastructure, gastronomic variety, quality, and luxury, as part of its market diversification.

"In recent years we have focused on Public Relations actions, organically, without major campaigns, but with excellent results, and recently we made an alliance with the National Union of LGBT AC Tourism Entrepreneurs (UNET), focused on promoting and selling our destiny among the groups that make up that grouping”, added Marc Murphy.

As an example of the above, the recognition regularly obtained by properties and companies that offer services for the LGBT+ community, mentioned below, stands out:

+ In 2018 The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort won the Gay Travel Award as the "World's Friendliest LGBT+ Beach Resort."
+ Hard Rock Hotel is certified as "Out Now", which indicates comprehensive management of the market.
+ The W hotel brand is also very close to the LGBT+ segment, making the W Punta de Mita another excellent lodging option for this niche.
+ The Imanta, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and One & Only Mandarina hotels are also Gay Friendly hotels.
+ Sayulita and San Pancho are two cosmopolitan and inclusive micro-destinations, very friendly to this segment.
