Taco101 – Daytime taco walk

Daytime taco walk it´s a relaxed morning or afternoon of chatting, learning about local finger foods and tasting delicious authentic tacos. A (very) filling taco meal with a local friend.
Trough Daytime taco walk you´ll learn the history of tacos and how tacos are prepared and eaten around Mexico. We will visit up to 5 different taco spots in the central and south neighborhoods. You’ll be able to taste 5 to 10 different tacos and many salsas and toppings. It’s the most popular breakfast or lunch tacos in the city, the ones we locals often eat. You will try refried beans, beef and fish machaca, beef and pork birria, chicharron, carnitas, smoked marlin and baja style fish tacos, shrimp and octopus quesadillas and tacos de canasta. Plus, coffee, aguas frescas, beer and dessert. And lot’s of fun. We’ll visit street stands and small taco eateries, all of them family businesses. We will also visit a corn tortilla factory!
After our walking and eating session, you will feel more connected to the fabulous local taco scene and you will be more than ready to continue exploring on your own with more knowledge and confidence. I will also show you additional spots that you can visit later on and give you lots of extra info on how to make your vacation more enjoyable.

You take care of your check
At every stop, you will learn the menus and prices. We will guide you through the selection process and recommend the most authentic and representative items. Then you pay for your own food.
The total expense per person for this very filling breakfast or lunch, including drinks and dessert and extras, is the equivalent to between $10 and $20 USD at the very most. Bring your pesos (we´ll help you wih the exchange if necessary) and your apetite!
How long
Daytime taco walk it´s about 2.5 to 3 hours and about 1.5 miles, give or take.
How much
The walk is free. However, as a gratuity, You Pay What You Want. You decide.
At the end of the walk, if you are happy, you contribute with the amount per person, in pesos or dollars, you feel your experience was worth. We will make sure you love it.
Reservations are made on the honor system. You are making an honest commitment to attend a limited capacity group. We prefer small groups. Up to 6 people.
Where
We meet at Los Arcos Amphiteater, a popular landmark located in the heart of the historic downtown neighborhood, across the street from Vallarta’s main square, also called Plaza de Armas, and the famous Church of Guadalupe. The City Hall building (Presidencia) is also located in the area. The meeting point is easily accesible by bus, uber or taxi or by walking the very famous Malecon from north to south.
