Tourism consolidates Jalisco as a key economic engine. From January to May, Puerto Vallarta achieved a revenue of 17,840 million pesos, with a tourist influx of 2.5 million.
From January to May, Puerto Vallarta recorded an economic impact of 17,840 million pesos, driven by the influx of 2.5 million tourists. This notable performance contributed significantly to the economy of Jalisco, which in the same period reached a total income of 31.8 billion pesos, according to data from the State Tourist Information System (SITE).
Main Tourist Destinations in Jalisco
The destinations in Jalisco that generated the greatest economic benefit were Puerto Vallarta, with 17,840 million pesos, followed by Guadalajara, which reported 11,354 million pesos.
“Tourism is undoubtedly one of the main economic drivers of Jalisco, generating employment and attracting investments. From January to May, the average hotel occupancy in the state was 58%. In Puerto Vallarta, this figure reached 77%, while in Guadalajara it was 52%,” said Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Secretary of Tourism of Jalisco.
During the same period, Jalisco received a total of 13.4 million tourists, of which 6.5 million visited Guadalajara and 2.5 million Puerto Vallarta.
Tourism Promotion Strategies
The Jalisco Tourism Secretariat continues working to strengthen the positioning of its tourist destinations at a national and international level. To achieve this, various promotional actions are carried out in collaboration with the Trusts of the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Municipalities of the Interior and Costalegre. These initiatives seek to maximize the region's tourism potential and continue promoting its economic development.
