Hotel occupancy in Puerto Vallarta reached outstanding figures during the Holy Week and Easter holidays, marking a period of continuous growth in tourism in the region.
Puerto Vallarta, known as the "green pearl of the Mexican Pacific", enjoyed an exceptional Holy Week and Easter season, with an average hotel occupancy of 85% over fifteen days, reaching peaks of 94% during the busiest days.
Occupancy figures and arrivals of international passengers
During this period, more than 20,000 hotel rooms were occupied almost daily, with one notable night recording 24,433 rooms occupied, nearly the entire city's hotel inventory. This translated to an average of almost 50,000 tourists staying per night, with some nights exceeding 60,000 tourists.
Despite the common belief that Holy Week reduces the influx of international tourism, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport experienced a significant increase in the arrival of foreign passengers. During the month of March 2024, the airport was positioned as the third national airport in international passenger arrivals, with an increase of 13,45% compared to the previous year. This increase is reflected in an excellent balance for the first quarter of the year, with an increase of 12,03% in the arrival of international passengers compared to the same period of the previous year.
Luis Villaseñor, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, highlighted this growth as an indicator of the solid positioning of the Puerto Vallarta brand, especially in North America.
