Riviera Nayarit is projected as a luxury destination at Fitur de Madrid 2020

The Mexican Pacific Treasure presented its novelties at one of the most important tourism fairs in the world, managing to make more than 30 business appointments with wholesale companies and OTAs from Spain and the United Kingdom.

The Riviera Nayarit presented its Luxury and Nature at Fitur de Madrid 2020 or the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), the most important business platform for tourism in Spain and one of the most relevant in the world, which was held held in Madrid, Spain from 22 to 26 January 2020.

This year, FITUR achieved the participation of 142,642 industry professionals, 10,487 companies from 165 countries or regions, as well as 110,848 people who entered the fairgrounds in search of information for their next vacation.

Both participated in this important fair with a space in the Mexico Pavilion. In an intense work schedule, more than 30 business appointments were made, as well as five interviews with the Spanish media, more than fulfilling the objective of projecting the destination as a leader for luxury tourism in Mexico.

Among the business appointments made by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (OVC), the one held with the wholesaler TUI UK, which presented the progress of the strategies for 2020, stands out. The meeting with the OTA (Online Travel) was also important. Agency) Dutch Travix, which was interested in growing new beach destinations, alternatives to the Caribbean; as well as JetLine Holidays, a British agency interested in developing its Mexico product in the short term.

In it Golf segment two meetings stood out; one with the agent of Viajes Carrefour España Empresas y Grupos, interested in promoting their clients for this market niche, and another with the General Director of an agency in Colombia, who confirms Riviera Nayarit as the venue for his 2021 golf tournament. Finally, the meeting with the Latin American Travel Association of the United Kingdom stands out, with more than 350 associates between airlines, destinations, hotels, among others, -all from Latin America-, which seeks to strengthen sales and alliances between destinations and travel agents. On the other hand, making the most of the work week, Riviera Nayarit participated in the MXConnect-Networking Mexico event in Madrid, which had the objective of interacting with more than 50 travel agents, media and wholesale companies, mainly from Spain and other countries of Europe. In this event there were also agents from Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, who showed great interest in the region. It is important to point out that Germany has become a potential market since it is among the first emitters in Europe, after the United Kingdom, so it is encouraging to see the interest of these markets in the Riviera Nayarit.

Media projection

The representative of the OVC's Sales and Promotion area, Lucero Guerrero, held interviews with some of the most important media in Spain. Among these, Radio Nacional de España (RNE) stands out, the main public radio station in that country, listened to both in Spain and in other Spanish-speaking countries. The interview was conducted by the journalist Paula Mayoral, who showed interest in the main virtues of El Tesoro del Pacífico Mexicano: its culture, peoples, gastronomy and luxury offer.

It is also important to mention the private channel EsRadio (seventh national generalist radio station), which is among the most listened to in Spain. Radio InterEconomía, a radio channel that broadcasts thematic programming, specializing in economic information and also tourist information in some of its programs and, finally, Grupo Excelencias, with a presence in America, the Caribbean and Spain through different prominent media.

“The objectives of projecting the Riviera Nayarit as the leading destination in Mexico for luxury tourism were more than met during Fitur de Madrid 2020, since we have managed to capture the attention of the international tourism industry; The media have also paid more attention to the offer of this destination, which will undoubtedly result in a greater projection on an international scale”, 

expressed Jesús Carmona Jiménez, president of the Association of Hotels and Motels of Bahía de Banderas (AHMBB) and of the CVB of Riviera Nayarit.
