Yelapa the main attraction of Cabo Corrientes

Yelapa is guarded by mountains, it is an inspirational hideaway whose natural benefits are unique to Cabo Corrientes

A single road takes you to the seaside town. Hidden among the mountains of Jalisco is Yelapa, which is why the only route is the sea. Its name comes from purepecha and means: "place where the waters come together or pool". You can take water taxis from different points, it is important to ask for the departure times towards the destination. From Puerto Vallarta to Tomatlan mouth, the rates change according to the distance.

When you arrive forget about media communication. The wonders that are on the site will make you easily forget about the lack of telephone and internet signal. It is an ideal place for artists, such as writers, painters, musicians, to have a space of inspiration where their new artistic creations flow.

Yelapa

Coastal and jungle town

Yelapa is more than just a beach, there are charming roads, it is mountains with extravagant life. There is a refreshing waterfall and a museum telling its story has recently been opened. So it is better to organize a good itinerary to carry out the most activities and tours possible.

There are jungle walks, where little birds fly above you, lushly colored flowers, and leafy trees that caress you as they pass. Reptiles that hide among the greens and other friendly creatures that look at you curiously. In the end, the reward is an incredible waterfall that invites you to wet your skin with its sweet water.

For those who stay by the sea, they can snorkel, dive and fish. Its foamy waves are the beginning of an incredible turquoise sea full of marine life. There are restaurants with rustic palapas that serve exclusive delicacies from the region accompanied by a good raicilla.

What you cannot miss trying are the famous Yelapa pies. An exquisite dessert whose recipe is only shared among the ladies of the town, it is a delicious secret that seduces your palate.

In order to take a look at Yelapa's past, you have to go to its Museum of History, Art and Culture. You will be able to appreciate a piece of pre-Hispanic clay, other contemporary utensils and a magnificent photographic exhibition of the passage of time and the changes of the coastal town, donated by the photographer Lisa Law.

The magical nights of Yelapa

If you have the opportunity to spend a night in Yelapa you should not miss it. The lack of electric light installations allows the night to be the main character. Their companions, the stars, highlight their beauty and the little fireflies seek to be the grand finale. Definitely each element makes magical evenings in the moonlight. This landscape is ideal for romantic evenings of memorable moments in your life.

Yelapa helps you to reconnect with your senses, to appreciate and respect nature. To inspire you, renew you and fill you with new energies. To remember that history is important to preserve your essence. Because this coastal town, despite the years and the growth around it, continues to be a hidden paradise. Its people live by and for the sea, happy to wake up every day in the privileged Eden and rest sheltered by the starry night with the lullabies of the waves.

We thank our dear photographer Astrid Rose Perry for sharing these beautiful hidden places.
